What
is Trail Pairs?
Trail for Pairs is
an exciting class involving two riders each with their own
horses negotiating the trail pattern together taking turns
leading and opening gates for each other. This is a fun
team building class. It is scored as a traditional trail
class.
What is Trail Savvy Style?
Trail Savvy Style is the original concept of RHR with the
horse enthusiast in mind. Our goals to celebrate the fun
and excitement people have guiding their equine partners
through challenging courses.
There are two Trail Savvy Style Classes the Groundwork
class and the Under-Saddle Class. The Ground-Work Class is
where the handler is on foot guiding their horse while the
Under-Saddle Class the horse is ridden thru the obstacles.
This exciting New Trail competition challenges the horse
and handler/riders ability to cope with many situations
encountered in a unique setting. This is a Freestyle Class,
meaning there is no set pattern. Each horse and
handler/rider team is given Two Minutes to negotiate the
course.
What
obstacles will Trail Savvy have?
RHR’s goal is to challenge you and horse, not trap or cause
elimination by making obstacles to difficult. All obstacles
will be constructed with safety in mind as to prevent any
accidents.
You may only compete an obstacle twice for points.
Obstacles may include: raised obstacles, a wooden bridge,
rope drag (pole attached to rope drug from point A to point
B), a jump (no higher than 24”), ground tie, Pick-up horses
feet, open/close gate… any many more.
There will be new challenges and obstacles at each show.
How is Trail Savvy Style Scored?
Management will provide a course outline with a maximum
point value assigned to each obstacle. Each horse and
handler/rider team is given Two Minutes to negotiate the
course. Once the time has started the handler/rider works
the obstacles to accumulate points. The class will score
accordingly; when an obstacle is performed with style and
correctness the maximum points will be awarded for that
obstacle. On the other hand if an obstacle is worked
incorrectly or in a dangerous manner the judge will score
handler/rider a zero score for that obstacle.
How
is Trail Savvy Style Placed?
The Class is placed after all handlers/riders have had
their “go”. The highest score wins, second highest is
second and so forth. Trail Savvy Style Classes will be
placed 1st
to 5th.
Do
you have Savvy Style?
Yes, this competition is for everyone and anyone. We
welcome all ages, all disciplines, levels and interest. No
Show attire is required. Dress code: boots and long pants.
Hats optional. Trail Savvy is all about you and horse
having fun by showing your Savvy Style.
