About Angie
Hi
my name is Angie Peters and I am the founder of Beginners To
Winners. On this website you find my resume as an equine
professional, as well as a blog on the main subject of
horsemanship, which provides free tips, articles & resources on
all subjects of horsemanship, ranging from, but not limited to;
grooming, basic riding, advanced riding, finishing a horse,
preparing a horse for sale or show & the basic principles on
becoming a more effective horseman.
I am self-employed as a riding instructor and coach, specializing
in Resistance Free® Riding Methods developed by Richard Shrake. I
spend the majority of my time giving private lessons to women who
aspire to be more confident and accomplished riders. The areas of
focus are not limited to, increasing personal endurance while
improving balance and enhancing the relationship with their equine
partners.
I am 26 years old and I am fortunate to do what I love; help others
become the riders they aspirer to become. I have a unique gift when
it comes to teaching. I am able to effectively convey how-to
proceed through a maneuver by describing each step, what you feel
when preformed correctly and most importantly; the "whys &
wherefores".
I started Beginners To Winners (originally “From Beginners To
Winners”) in 2003 after leaving my job as an assistant trainer to a
very prominent trainer and Quarter Horse Judge. I gained great
experience and knowledge from Jim and Nena Edwards of Edwards
Performance Horses but after six years of riding with Jim and four
years of working for Jim, I was ready for new challenges and
experiences.
In the summer of 2003 I enrolled in Richard Shrakes’ Resistance
Free® Instructor & Trainer Program. My mother idolizes
Richard’s simple and common sense training methods. Using Richards’
Methods my mother successfully coached me to win numerous local and
state championships as well as being undefeated as a youth on the
open show circuits of Northern California.
I am also an American Quarter Horse Association Professional
Horseman (since 2004) and have recently graduated as a Richard
Shrake Resistance Free® Instructor & Trainer. I also offer my
services as an open horse show judge and 4H Clinician. I have a
varied background from the US Pony Club in classical riding &
jumping as a youth, to assisting a cutting horse trainer with colt
starting as a teenager. My diverse background gives me the skills
to teach a variety of disciplines, while sharing my experiences
with others.
I’ve taken a few years off for personal development and
self-exploration, during which, I married my best friend and the
love of my life Will. We recently started our family with our
two-year-old bundle of giggles and wiggles named Hunter.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed that becoming a
mother would enhance my teaching ability. In the past, my clients
have always been amazed and surprised by my ability to remain calm
and collected when they need me the most. But becoming a mother to
a busy little boy has taken my degree patience to an even higher
level. I know that my little boy continues to make me a better
person, a more precise teacher as an exceptional coach and I look
forward to the challenges he and my clients bring me.
I am:
1. Passionate (I absolutely love what I do)
2. Enthusiastic (I want to learn more)
3. Focused (I have the right attitude)
I started Beginners To Winners with the aspirations to be a riding
coach & instructor and not just another “horse trainer”. I know
that my professionalism sets me apart from others in horse industry
because, I am able easily obtainable by phone or e-mail; I am
always there for my clients. I follow-up, after a session, I do
check-in to see how you and your horse are progressing and what
conclusions you have come to since our last session. I am
approachable, even as an open horse show judge I love to help
people who are struggling or just need a small pointer that can
make their day a little brighter. I will give credit, where credit
is due. I have had the opportunity to learn from some very talented
horsemen and horsewomen in my short life. I have blended several
methods into my own concise program. My program is designed to help
riders become the equestrian they long to be, while giving my
students the tools to develop a harmony & balance within
themselves; which consequently improves the relationship with their
own equine partner.
Apart from Beginners To Winners, I also run two other
businesses:
Rock-N-Horse Ranch Equestrian Facility
Rock-N-Horse
Ranch is our family ranch. For the last 13 years we have provided
our facilities to clinicians such as Richard Shrake and Clinton
Anderson, groups such as the local 4H & JR. Grange and various
clubs & breeds for their own events and shows. I also hold all
of my sessions at RHR.
RHR Miniature Australian Shepherds
I
also raise and breed Mini Australian Shepherds. They’re
temperaments are just like the full sized Aussies but they come in
the convenient small lap dog size. We absolutely love our Aussies
and focus on finding great homes for our dogs.
